5-star
Gora Kadan
Hakone, Japan

About the hotel
The gentle sound of a sliding wall made of rice paper. The scent of flower incense. The flavor of traditional Kaiseki cuisine. The feel of silk. A stay at Gora Kadan, a former holiday retreat for the imperial family located in National Park Hakone, Kanin-no-miya, offers an opportunity to engage all five senses through immersion in Japan's most ancient way of life. Set in a peaceful and enjoyable environment within an area of springs heated by volcanic sources, guests can move from their suite, designed in a minimalist style, to a swimming pool or spa, where beauty care experts are available, all while wearing a Yukata cotton kimono. The experience can be summarized in three letters—Zen. The property is closed for business during the year on the following dates: February 15–19, 2009. CLUB 5C—Hotel welcomes Relais and Chateaux Club 5C members with a VIP Welcome and a Discovery Privilege. Please include the Club 5C membership number in the reservation and present your Club 5C membership card upon arrival.
