Fairmont Singapore Review

Fairmont Singapore combines an unbeatable central location with spacious rooms, private balconies, excellent dining and strong wellness facilities.

Fairmont Singapore Review

Singapore has no shortage of excellent luxury hotels, but few combine location, space, dining, and resort-style facilities as effortlessly as Fairmont Singapore.

We stayed here over the New Year period, one of the busiest times of the year in the city, and came away particularly impressed by how well the hotel works for travellers who want to be in the middle of everything without sacrificing comfort.

A private balcony overlooking the city, easy access to some of Singapore’s best-known landmarks, extensive dining options, and excellent wellness facilities made this a very complete city stay.

Here is our experience at Fairmont Singapore and who we think the hotel is best suited for.

Location: One of Fairmont Singapore's Biggest Strengths

For a first or even repeat visit to Singapore, the location is difficult to fault.

Fairmont Singapore sits at Raffles City, directly connected to City Hall MRT. Marina Bay, the Civic District, Bugis, and many of central Singapore's major attractions are within easy reach.

Raffles City Shopping Centre is connected directly to the hotel, making restaurants, cafés, shopping, and everyday essentials accessible without stepping outside.

That convenience becomes particularly valuable in Singapore's heat or during sudden tropical rain.

Despite arriving during the busy New Year period, check-in was organised and efficient. The lobby was understandably active, but the service never felt chaotic or impersonal.

Our Deluxe Room and Balcony View

Our booking was upgraded from a Fairmont Room to a Deluxe Room.

The room felt spacious by central Singapore standards, with plenty of natural light and a clean, contemporary design.

But the feature we enjoyed most was the balcony.

Private balconies are relatively uncommon among luxury hotels in the heart of Singapore, and having an outdoor space overlooking the pool and city skyline gave the room considerably more character.

It was equally enjoyable in the morning with coffee and later in the evening when the city lights came on.

The bathroom was generously proportioned as well, with a bathtub, separate bathing space, and premium amenities.

We were also celebrating a birthday during the stay, and the hotel had arranged a cake in the room.

It was a thoughtful touch and exactly the type of small gesture that can make a special-occasion stay feel more personal.

Breakfast at Fairmont Singapore

One advantage of staying at Fairmont Singapore is the wider dining ecosystem it shares with neighbouring Swissôtel The Stamford.

Breakfast was available across multiple venues, and during our stay we tried both Prego and Asian Market Café.

The spreads were extensive, although breakfast naturally gets busy during peak holiday periods.

Indian travellers may particularly appreciate Asian Market Café, which had a noticeably better selection of Indian dishes.

If having familiar breakfast options matters to your family, this would be our preferred choice.

Lunch at SKAI: The Dining Highlight

One meal we would strongly recommend building into a Fairmont Singapore stay is lunch or dinner at SKAI.

Located high above the city on the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford, the restaurant has spectacular views across Marina Bay and Singapore's skyline.

The setting alone makes it worth visiting, particularly during daylight when the entire bay and surrounding architecture are visible.

We used our USD 100 hotel credit towards lunch and were also able to apply our Accor Plus dining benefit.

For travellers booking through an eligible preferred advisor programme, using the hotel credit towards an experience such as SKAI is a much more memorable way to extract value than treating it simply as a discount on the room.

Pool and Leisure Facilities

Considering its central location, Fairmont Singapore has surprisingly substantial leisure facilities.

The outdoor pool area is large, with enough space for both families and guests looking to relax.

Even during the festive season, we were able to spend an easy afternoon here without the area feeling excessively crowded.

The pool bar adds a slight resort feel to what is otherwise very much a city hotel.

Fitness Centre

The fitness centre has a good selection of modern equipment and was well maintained throughout our visit.

It is not enormous considering that the facilities are shared between Fairmont and Swissôtel, so it can become busier at popular workout times.

For a normal hotel workout, however, it has everything most guests will need.

Sauna, Steam Room and Jacuzzi

The wellness facilities were one of the pleasant surprises of the stay.

Guests have access to a sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, spa facilities, and spacious changing areas.

After a full day walking around Singapore, having proper thermal facilities available inside the hotel was genuinely useful.

Travellers who value a strong gym and wellness setup should consider this one of Fairmont Singapore's advantages over many other centrally located hotels.

A Small Service Issue at Checkout

No stay is completely perfect, and ours had one minor issue on the final afternoon.

We had arranged a slightly later checkout because we planned to have lunch at SKAI and charge the meal to our room.

There was some confusion between departments, and the room was checked out earlier than expected, with the outstanding amount initially settled against our deposit.

The hotel subsequently corrected the charges, although it meant our SKAI bill could no longer be posted to the room.

It was a minor operational lapse rather than a major concern, but worth mentioning in an otherwise very smooth stay.

How We Booked Fairmont Singapore

Our stay was booked through a Fora travel advisor using an eligible preferred rate.

The booking included:

  • Third night complimentary
  • Daily breakfast
  • USD 100 hotel credit
  • A complimentary room upgrade, subject to availability

Our stay was from January 1 to January 4, with a total booking value of SGD 1,314.10.

We also used approximately 43,000 Accor points during the stay.

When benefits such as breakfast, hotel credit, upgrades, and complimentary nights are available, comparing preferred advisor rates against standard public rates can make a meaningful difference, especially at luxury hotels.

Who Should Stay at Fairmont Singapore?

Fairmont Singapore is particularly well suited to:

  • First-time visitors who want a central base
  • Families wanting convenient MRT and shopping access
  • Travellers who value larger rooms and balconies
  • Couples looking for a comfortable luxury city stay
  • Guests who appreciate having extensive dining and wellness facilities within the hotel complex

It may not offer the intimate atmosphere of a small boutique property, but that is not really what Fairmont Singapore is trying to be.

Its strength lies in offering almost everything a traveller could need in one extremely convenient location.

The Privé Verdict

Fairmont Singapore turned out to be an excellent choice for a festive-season stay.

The location is exceptional, the balcony rooms offer something genuinely distinctive for central Singapore, and the combination of Fairmont and Swissôtel facilities gives guests far more dining and leisure options than a typical standalone city hotel.

SKAI was a highlight, while the pool and thermal facilities added another dimension to the stay.

There was a small checkout issue on our final day, but it did little to change our overall impression.

Would we stay again?

Yes, particularly for a Singapore trip where convenience, space, and a strong set of hotel facilities are priorities.
